Puri: Thousands of devotees now can listen to the devotional songs and spiritual programmes based on Jagannath culture soon on radio as the Puri Jagannath temple administration has approved the proposal to set up its own FM radio station.

It was decided in Srimandir managing committee meeting chaired by Puri Gajapati Maharaja Divya Singh Dev on Monday in the presence of chief temple administrator.

“Jagannath bhajans and other spiritual programmes would be aired on the radio twice a day in the morning and evening”, chief temple administrator Arvind Padhee said.

It was also decided that during the upcoming Rath Yatra, devotees would not be allowed to climb on the chariots and touch the deities. Some other important decisions were too taken in the five-hour long meeting to make the Snana Yatra and Rath Yatra more disciplined.
