Srimandir Reforms Case: SC Refuses To Accept Puri Shankaracharya’s Impleadment Petition

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court today rejected an impleadment petition filed by Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati for making him a party in Srimandir reforms case.

Radheshyam Jena, counsel appearing on behalf of Shankaracharya, said that the Apex Court has declined to make him a party in the case because it thinks that it will be burdensome for him. “The apex court has instead urged Puri Shankaracharya to keep his views and suggestions before the court through the amicus curiae Ranjit Kumar so that they can be referred during the time of hearing,” said Jena.

Swetaketu Mishra, advocate of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said that hearing on the matter has been deferred till an indefinite period of time.

Earlier, the Shankaracharya had suggested several reforms for the 12th century shrine and urged the apex court to make him a party in the case.
