Puri: The Srimandir managing committee is likely to hold discussions on eight proposals in a meeting today. The meeting is scheduled to start at 11 AM under the chairmanship of Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb.

As per sources, the meeting will discuss on implementation of the 12 proposals suggested as part of disciplinary reforms at the Srimandir by the Supreme Court in its interim judgement.

Out of the 12 proposals, nine have been implemented by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) after holding discussion with the Chhatisa Nijog. However, servitors are opposing proposal no. 1, 2 and 12 which includes abolition of hereditary appointment of servitors, collection of money and donations and ban on Annadan Atika.

Besides, the violence that erupted during Puri bandh protesting the introduction of ‘Dhadi Darshan’ (queue system) on October 3 might also come up for discussion.

On the other hand, the darshan of the Holy Trinity at Srimandir will be restricted today from 5 PM to 9 PM in view of secret ‘Paita Lagi’ rituals.

Similarly, darshan will be restricted for four hours tomorrow for 'Banak Lagi' rituals of the deities of the temple.
