Bhubaneswar: Days after being sacked from the Congress Manifesto Committee, senior leader Srikant Jena today resigned from all other core committees of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).

Jena has also written a letter to party AICC president Rahul Gandhi informing about his resignation as member of OPCC working committee and election committee of the party.

"I have informed Rahul Gandhi about my resignation. How long Congress party will be run by family members of Patnaik family and I will go to villages and expose them" Jena said.

On December 6, AICC president Rahul Gandhi had approved the manifesto committee for Odisha for the 2019 elections. Senior leader Srikant Jena, who was the chairperson of the committee from April 2018,was replaced by Ganeswar Behera.

After being sacked, Jena had announced that he will seek a public referendum on three major proposals that he had earlier presented before the party for the 2019 elections.

Responding to Jena's resignation, Odisha Congress president Niranjan Patnaik said, "I am not aware of Srikant Jena's resignation and if he has then it's his personal choice. However, no indiscipline will be tolerated in the party."

On the other hand, Chairman of OPCC disciplinary committee, Hemananda Biswal said, "It's not a wise decision to resign from the party when Congress is doing well in other states.”
