Bhubaneswar:  Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand, who is the fastest women athlete of the country, is struggling to get visa for participating in the upcoming events in Europe. Chand on Thursday took to twitter and sought intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs in expediting her visa request.

Through a tweet, Chand requested External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to help her get visa so that she can participate in a couple of races in Europe in her bid to qualify for the World Athletics Championships.

Chand is slated to participate in two IAAF-approved races in Ireland on August 13 and in Germany on August 19.

“Want to participate in @iaaforg tournaments in Ireland & Germany on 13 and 19 Aug rsptvly. My Visa formalities have not been completed due to some reasons. Request @DrSJaishankar & @MEAIndia to intervene at the earliest and help me participate in the race,” Chand tweeted.

It is pertinent to mention here that the ace sprinter had recently won gold at the World University Games in Naples by clocking 11.32 seconds. Dutee Chand won silver in both 100 and 200 metre sprints at last year’s Asian Games in Jakarta.
