Bhubaneswar: In a bid to clampdown on traffic rule violators in the capital city, speed detectors and cameras will be activated across multiple locations, informed Vice Chairman of Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Krishan Kumar today.

"Many technology driven projects are being undertaken which will help in traffic management. At 6 locations, speed detection devices have been installed. Those driving above the speed limit will be issued smart challans," Kumar said.

In the first phase, red light violation detection system has been installed and it will be activated on a trial basis for 2 months to create awareness, the BDA Vice-Chairman added.

According to sources, everyday a list of traffic violators will be issued from the control room and will be sent to traffic police. Through 'Vahan' and 'Sarathi' apps, identity of the vehicle owners will be ascertained, Kumar informed.
