Rayagada: The skeletal remains of a person suspected to be of a missing CRPF jawan, were recovered by the police from Nuasahi hill near Anjiapeta Chhak in Rayagada district on Sunday.
As per reports, the police officials also found a uniform of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and an identity card near the skeleton. The ID card belonged to one Dharam Dev of Uttar Pradesh.
Reportedly, Dev was posted at the 4th battalion of CRPF under Seshakhal area in the district and had gone missing since December 29, 2019.
Some locals spotted the skeleton at the hill on Sunday and informed the police. Later, cops along with a scientific team rushed to the spot and launched an investigation to establish the identity of deceased.
Meanwhile, the parts of the skeleton have been sent to Berhampur Forensic Laboratory for further investigation, added reports.
Sources said Dev’s son staying at Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh has been called to Rayagada for identification.
Dev was scheduled to visit Delhi in December last year. However, when he could not be traced after December 29, his family members had lodged an FIR at Rayagada Police Station on January 2. Based on the complaint, police had launched a search operation.
