Skaters from Berhampur set new Guinness World Record

Berhampur: Bringing laurels to the State, 19 skaters from Berhampur have set a Guinness world record by skating non-stop for 48 hours.

The skaters created the world record during the Largest Roller Skating Lesson held at Shivganga Skating Club in Belgaum of Karnataka on November 10. Sources said more than 600 competitors had participated in the skating competition.

“During the competition, we did skating for 48 hours continuously,” said Rushil Saasmal, one of the skaters of the Berhampur team.

Coach of the team Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said, “We practiced a lot for over two months prior to the competition. As proper infrastructures for skating were not available in Berhampur, we used roads for our practice. It was a tough challenge for us as 640 skaters from across the country had participated in the competition.”
