Sambalpur: Twenty quintal of ganja, valued at Re 1 crore, have been seized from a village in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.
 
Six persons, including a woman, were arrested in this connection, official sources said.
 
The arrests were made when a team comprising sleuths from Narcotic Control Bureau (NCM) and state excise conducted raids on ten houses at Baghabara village in Taktideula area, excise superintendent Gangadhar Sahu said.
 
Efforts were on to nab four others involved in the illegal racket in the area known as a hemp belt from where ganja is often smuggled out to states like Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, an excise official said.
 
Finished ganja weighing about 19.9 quintal was seized during the joint operation, Sahu said adding that the consignment packed in several bags was valued at around Re 1 crore.
