Balasore: At least six persons were killed and four injured,some criticaly, when a jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a truck on National Highway-5 at Manjari Chhak near Markona, 50 km from here today.While five persons,including one woman, died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries at Bhadrak hospital.

The jeep was carrying about ten people from Udala and Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj district to Puri, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) (Balasore Sadar), Kailash Parida said.

The injured were admitted to Bhadrakh hospital and two of them with serious injuries were shifted to SCB Medical College, Cuttack. Five of the deceased were identified as S Panda (50), her husband N Panda (58), Hrusikesh Parida (19), Jasbant Tendi (20), Manoranjan Behera (25).The truck driver has been absconding.
