Cuttack: In another instance of gross medical negligence, a patient in Odisha was allegedly treated based on the diagnosis report of a different person.

As per sources, one Pratap Chandra Mahanta was admitted to the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH) after meeting with a road accident on August 20. The doctor on duty asked him to do a CT scan of his head.

However, it is alleged that the doctor referred to one Sushant Nayak's CT Scan image while administering medication to Pratap. Subsequently, Pratap's health condition deteriorated and he was later admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack.

Pratap's relatives alleged negligence on the part of the doctor.

Raghunath Mohanty, a relative of Pratap said, "Doctors in Cuttack asked us to do another CT scan and after doing the same, there was a complete mismatch with the earlier image."

Meanwhile the doctors here in SCBMCH have suggested performing a surgery on Pratap's head, as the injury has aggravated further.

"Doctors here have advised us to arrange blood for the surgery as it's too late to treat him with medicines," added Raghunath.

No comments on the allegations could be obtained from the Keonjhar hospital authorities.
