Shelter home shame: Chargesheet filed against Beltikiri Dream Centre founder

Dhenkanal: Two months after the arrest of Beltikiri Dream Centre Shelter Home managing director Fayaz Rehman, the district police today submitted chargesheet against him.

Rehman was arrested in December on charges of sexual harassment of girl inmates of the shelter home and carrying out religious conversions.

Meanwhile, the Orissa High Court will hear the bail plea moved by Rehman tomorrow. Rehman has moved the High Court for bail after his plea was rejected earlier by the POCSO court.

Sources said apart from Rehman, the chargesheet also mentioned the name of the shelter home Project Director Simanchal Naik and Assistant Director Udit Lima.

The Enforcement Directorate has been probing the financial transactions and source of foreign funding of Good News India NGO which apart from managing the Beltikiri Dream Centre Shelter Home also runs similar shelters in other parts of the State.

Following the expose at the shelter, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), said in its report that Odisha government has not followed guidelines on protection of children at shelter homes strictly.
