Bhubaneswar: In a major development, Commissionerate Police on Friday identified the man, who was caught on CCTV molesting a minor girl on road in Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar last week.

Without divulging much information, Twin City Police Commissioner, Sudhansu Sarangi said, “The investigation in the case is on the right track and tangible progress has been made.”

Sources said Commissionerate Police swung into action after it was left red faced following delay in the probe even though a complaint was filed by the victim's family in connection with the incident on August 21.

It was alleged that as the accused was having political links, no promptness was initially shown by the police officials investigating the crime.

As per reports, the accused molested the girl who was on her way to attend tuition on a bicycle on August 21. The accused riding a two-wheeler intercepted the girl and attempted to molest her at an isolated area under Laxmisagar Police limits. However, he fled the spot after the girl raised an alarm.
