Cuttack: The authorities of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering (BOSE) here today suspended all the classes of the institute for two days following yesterday’s violent protests by the students.

After allegation of sexual harassment brought by a girl student, students went berserk and had ransacked the college premises.

The victim alleged that an instructor of the college Durga Kumar Sinha attempted to molest her during a practical session couple of days back.

The incident took an ugly turn yesterday when the students, irate over the inaction of the college authorities despite being approached by the girl, vented their ire by ransacking the college property.

When contacted, the principal claimed that steps have been taken to suspend the accused instructor from duty.

“We have formed a committee after hearing the matter from the girl student. The committee is supposed to submit a detail report on this. Based on the report action will be taken,” BOSE principal Pradeepta Kumar Mohanty said.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused who is on the run since yesterday.
