Jajpur: The police on Tuesday claimed to have busted a sex racket and arrested six persons including three students from a house at Jajpur Road township after conducting a raid.

The arrested persons have been identified as Papindrapal Singh (28), house owner, Kaushik Pradhan (22), Alfaranjan Nayak (25), Sujit Kumar Lohar (26) (all are the students of Industrial Training Institute) and Madhusudan Das (25).

Police also arrested a woman allegedly involved in the flesh trade in this connection.

Acting on a tip-off, a Jajpur Road police team raided the building at Dhabalagiri under municipal town limits and arrested six persons in connection in it.

"We had specific information that a sex racket was operating from a residential building at Dhabalagiri for the past few months. Based on this information, a raid was conducted in the wee hours on Monday and six persons including a sex worker has been arrested," said Aswini Kumar Sahu, inspector-in-charge of Jajpur Road police station.

The police have also seized three motorcycles, five mobile phones and some cash from their possession.

The arrested persons were produced in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Jajpur Road after their medical examination. The court rejected their bail pleas and remanded them to jail custody.
