Severe winter conditions continue to prevail in the Sundargarh region, with Kendrikala village under Bonai tehsil among the worst affected. Residents are struggling to cope with intense cold and dense fog, which have severely disrupted daily life in the area.

According to locals, this year’s winter has been harsher than usual, with temperatures plunging sharply and visibility dropping to as low as 2 to 4 metres due to thick fog. The extreme weather conditions have made it difficult for residents to step out during the early morning hours, forcing many villagers to seek shelter in verandas to escape the biting cold.

The prolonged cold spell and reduced visibility have affected people across all age groups, including children and senior citizens, and have also impacted livestock. Routine activities, particularly early morning work, have been severely hampered as the cold and fog make outdoor movement challenging.

Villagers have expressed concern over the dangerous road conditions caused by poor visibility, while agricultural and household activities have also been disrupted. Residents noted that although Bonai experiences cold winters every year, the current conditions are unusually severe.

Meanwhile, authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions, avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during early hours, and ensure adequate protection for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. The region is expected to continue experiencing severe winter conditions over the coming days.
