Fog and Icy Winds Add to Discomfort

Residents in affected areas are experiencing acute discomfort as icy winds, combined with low temperatures, have significantly intensified the chill factor. Dense fog in the early morning hours has reduced visibility, particularly in hilly and forest regions, affecting daily activities and movement.

IMD Outlook: Cold to Persist

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the prevailing cold wave conditions are likely to continue for the next two weeks, with no immediate signs of relief. Cold winds and dense fog are expected to persist across many parts of the state during this period.

Meteorological officials attributed the prolonged cold spell to atmospheric conditions conducive to low night-time temperatures and limited daytime heating. The continued presence of fog has further restricted solar radiation, delaying daytime warming and prolonging cold stress across the region.
