Berhampur: Several people in Berhampur and other nearby areas today gheraoed the SP office demanding arrest of a fake job agent, who allegedly duped Rs 30,000 to 40,000 from each of them on the pretext of providing employment in Singapore.

The matter came to light, when the people who had paid the money, did not get any confirmation from the agent. When the agent repeatedly avoided phone calls, the job seekers approached the police.

"The job agent had assured me a job in Singapore for which I had handed over Rs 7000 in the initial phase and had received a flight ticket for June 1. Today, the flight ticket got cancelled and when I called him on his mobile, he said that he was in Delhi regarding my job matter," said one of the duped aspirants.

"Several youths today have filed a complaint against the job agent. We have identified the person and came to know that he has previous record of committing fraud. We are investigating the matter and will soon nab the accused," said Pinak Mishra, SP, Berhampur.
