Nuapada: A day after dreaded Maoist Manoj Madkami escaped from the Nuapada SDJM court premises, seven police personnel including two Assistant Sub-Inspectors were placed under suspension for dereliction in duty.

The cops have been identified as Pankaj Tandi, Pushpalata Sunani, Bholanath Majhi, Pantabai Nayak, Harishankar Sabar, Laxman Sabar and Madhusudan Majhi.

Madkami, a resident of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, escaped from the court premises by scaling the boundary wall of the court. He was reportedly brought by police to be produced before the court yesterday.

Meanwhile, police have intensified the probe while raids are being conducted at several places to nab the absconding Maoist.

Madkami is a cadre of Bargarh-Bolangir-Mahasumund Maoist division and has many cases pending against him in Odisha as well as Chhattisgarh.

As per reports, Madkami was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh and arrested by police on May 30.
