Servitors call for boycott of Rath Yatra Coordination meeting
Puri: Servitors of the Puri Srimandir under the banner of Sri Jagannath Sevayat Sammelani today called for boycott of the Rath Yatra Coordination meeting scheduled to be held on July 3 under chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Sevayat Sammelani, through a poster put inside Srimandir premises, urged the servitors to stay away from the coordination in protest against the Puri Collector’s anti-servitor attitude.
“As Arvind Agarwal will be present in the meeting, the Sameelani has urged servitors not to participate in it. Starting from Niladri Bije to the issue of alleged misconduct to First Lady in Puri Srimandir, the bureaucrat has maligned the image of servitors during different occasions,” stated Kashinath Khuntia, secretary of the Jagannath Sevayat Sammelani.
On Saturday, Ashok Malik, the press secretary of the President clarified that no letter was sent from Rashtrapati Bhawan to the Puri district administration.
“Those who are claiming of such a letter from the President’s office should produce it. All these reports are mere speculations. Some servitors did try to breach security protocols to come closer to the President of India but they were stopped,” he clarified.
