Puri: Differently abled devotees of Lord Jagananth can have a smooth darshan of the deities during the annual Rath Yatra this year.

The district administration has decided to put up an independent gallery on terrace of the Jagannath Ballav Matha at Badadanda for convenience of the disabled people

The decision was taken during the second coordination committee meeting on Tuesday held to review the progress of arrangements for the upcoming Rath Yatra on July 14. The meeting was conducted at Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya under the chairmanship of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) V V Swamy.

State Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty, District Collector Arvind Agarwal, SP Sarthak Sarangi, Inspector-general of police (IGP) (Central) Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi, Puri Municipality Chairman Jayant Kumar Sarangi, other senior officials and chiefs of servitors were present at the meeting.

It was a fruitful discussion. The overall preparations for Rath Yatra will be completed before the deadline and I hope that this year too it will be smooth and hassle-free

Construction of chariots, temple rituals were among the topics raised during the discussion. Besides, issues of health, sanitation, roads, sewerage, drinking water, electricity, law & order situation were also discussed in the meeting.

A proper co-ordination of all line departments is required to avoid last minute crisis. All the departments should complete their respective tasks on time so that crowd control and management, traffic control and security arrangement can be don23e smoothly
