Senior BJP leader Dama Rout's wife no more

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Damodar Rout's wife Snehalata Mohapatra passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar today. She was 72 years old.

Family sources said, Snehalata was suffering from prolonged illness and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.  She is survived by her husband Damodar Rout, son Sambit Routray and Pritinanda Routray.

Rout who joined the BJP last week has been appointed as the convener of State BJP Campaign Committee. His daughter, Pritinanda too had recently resigned from the ruling-BJD.

Leaders across political spectrum including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP National Vice-president Baijayant 'Jay' Panda, KV Singh Deo and several others visited the residence of Rout and paid their last respects to the departed soul.
