Bhubaneswar/Jajpur: The mortal remains of senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member was consigned to flames at his native village Bhotaka in Jajpur district this evening with full state honour.

Pranab Balabantaray, the eldest son of Das, lit the funeral pyre, and several political leaders cutting party lines were present to give their last respect.

The mortal remains of the senior BJD leader arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar from New Delhi this morning, and then taken to party office and State Assembly where party leaders and workers had a last glimpse of the veteran Politian.

Das, who was afflicted with cancer, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi on July 20. But his condition worsened further and he passed away on Saturday afternoon.
