Balasore: Barely after one week of the incident, the state Crime Branch has started investigation into the self immolation case of two brothers at Machhua sahi under Town police station in Balasore district.
 
A team led by Crime Branch Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Behera on Saturday held discussion with Balasore SP Amrita Das regarding the matter. The team is likely to meet victims’ family members, neighbours and some eyewitnesses today in order to collect more information.
 
According to sources Sheikh Sadique and his brother Sheikh Sabir set themselves on fire by pouring kerosene to escape police who had come to Muchhua sahi to investigate a case on 24 November. One of them died on the way to SCB Medical while another succumbed to the injuries during treatment on November 25.
On November 26 DSP (Crime) registered a case against Balasore town police Inspector-in-charge (IIC)  Tariq Ahemad following the FIR lodged by the father of the deceased.
