Balasore: A major loot attempt at the SBI ATM on the Balasore railway station premises on Sunday night was foiled by the district police after the bank officials in Mumbai alerted the cops about the security breach.

While the police managed to nab two miscreants, five others managed to flee. As per reports, when the wire connection of the ATM battery chamber was cut by the miscreants, the Central database office in Mumbai received an alert message.

Subsequently, Sahdev Khunta police station was immediately informed following which a team of cops rushed to the spot and nabbed the criminals.While an investigation is underway, police are suspecting the accused could be part of a larger ATM loot gang.

"Last night, the Central database office in Mumbai informed us that security was breached at the SBI ATM near the railway station. We rushed to the spot and succeeded in arresting two persons. Few train tickets and flight tickets were also seized from their possession," Sahdev Khunta station-in-charge Jayant Kumar Behera said.

“However, five other accused managed to flee the spot and we are making efforts to track them too. The miscreants seem to have come from outside the state and could be part of a larger gang. Investigation is on to reveal more details," he added.
