Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police is on toes as President Pranab Mukherjee’s two-day Odisha visit starts from today.

The President will land at Bhubaneswar airport at 5.30 pm and go to the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya to attend the Golden Jubilee celebration function in the evening as chief guest.

“As per the prescribed norms, elaborate security arrangements have been done for the visit of the President. Four DCPs, more than 10 additional DCPs, 300 officers, 35 platoons of force are deployed for the security of the President,” said RP Sharma, Commissioner of Police.

On traffic system during the tour, Sharma added the priority will be smooth passage of the President’s cavalcade. “Lanes and by-lanes connecting the main route will be sealed minutes before the passage of the motorcade,” he added.

A mock drill has been done by the Commissionerate of Police to ensure fool-proof security.
Sources said the President will also visit Skills Development Learning Labs at Centurion University of Technology & Management at Bhubaneswar today.

On Sunday, Mukherjee will inaugurate first Vivekananda Memorial Building at Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rampur, Kalahandi.

He will also inaugurate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Rama Devi Women's Autonomous College, Bhubaneswar tomorrow.
