Security beefed up ahead of I-Day celebrations in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, security measures have been beefed up across Odisha to prevent any untoward incidents.
A three-tier security arrangement will be in place for the State level I-day parade at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar where Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will unfurl the Tricolor at around 9 AM tomorrow.
Official sources said 30 platoons of police force including 150 senior officers will be deployed during the Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar.
Senior police officials including Twin City police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty took stock of the security measures today.
“Adequate security measures have been made for the I-Day celebrations. We usually keep surveillance for 72 hours to thwart any possible eventuality,” said Mohanty.
A close vigil is kept in Maoist-infested districts with combing operations being intensified, informed sources. Border areas have been sealed while vehicles are being thoroughly checked in several parts of the concerned districts, added sources.
“We have alerted BSF and deployed police force in the district. A joint combing operation is also being conducted with assistance from BSF, DVF and SOG,” said Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena.
Rayagada SP, Rahul PR informed that close surveillance is being maintained on peripheral areas of the town and transit points in the district. A special operation is being carried out based on intelligence inputs on Naxal movements, he added.
