Bhubaneswar: Barely twenty four hours after the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) here confirmed one patient tested positive for swine flu, the first such case in the state this year, another such case has sent jittery moments to the state government with RMRC confirming the second case too.

According to the centre the patient from Jagatsinghpur has been detected with H1N1 virus and being treated in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. Incidentally the first case was also from the same hospital in which the patient was undergoing treatment.  

Sources said, of the 22 blood samples examined so far, two tested positive.

Health minister Damodar Rout today told assembly that the government was well prepared to tackle the disease. The health department has already directed district headquarters hospitals to set up special wards for these patients and stock sufficient Tamiflu, the medicine effective against the influenza A virus.   

The H1N1 virus had claimed 32 lives in 2010.
