Bhubaneswar: The second day of the Budget Session of the Odisha Assembly was washed away amid ruckus created by the Opposition parties today. After mourning the death of leaders Priyanath Dey and Ladu Kishore Swain, both the Congress and BJP disrupted the House proceedings as soon as the question hour started.

Following disruption, the Speaker adjourned the House for the first hour. Though an adjournment motion on paddy procurement lapses was moved by the Congress, no discussions could be held amid the ongoing ruckus. Moreover, while only the members of the ruling party took part in the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address, Congress members staged a walkout.

"We decided to boycott the House today as policemen lathi-charged farmers and even assaulted ladies during protest. The government is busy rolling out schemes and is not concerned about anyone," Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati said.

On the other hand, BJD MLA Sanjay Das Burma alleged that BJP leader Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo was responsible for the disruption in the house.

"It is unfortunate that BJP's legislature party leader Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo allowed his party's Kuchinda MLA to disrupt the house," BJD MLA Sanjay Das Burma said.

Responding to the allegation levelled by BJD, BJP's Kuchinda MLA Rabi Nayak said," I was asked to draw the attention of the speaker on a certain issue. They are now trying to do politics over that."
