Second bridge on Brahmani River: Eviction of encroachment for approach road begins

Rourkela: The process of land acquisition for the approach road meant for the second Brahmani bridge began with the eviction of 46 houses in Ruptola basti area today.

The eviction was carried out in presence of the Deputy Collector, tehsildar and officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Two platoons of police were deployed to avoid any untoward situation, sources said.

Though the work for the second Brahmani bridge began 5 months ago, it was stopped after 2 months due to problems in land acquisition.

Second Brahmani Bridge Project Director, Sourav Chaurasia said “There were 46 houses that were evicted today. They have been provided compensation while the Collector provided 4 decimal land to 25 families in other places.”

“As many as 46 houses were evicted today. They were given sufficient time and have been adequately compensated,” Rourkela tehsildar Biswamohan Rath said.
