Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer Rajesh Kumar, who was earlier investigating Seashore Group scam as the DIG of EoW of Odisha Crime Branch, was questioned by CBI today for around three hours over his alleged links with chit-fund middleman Subhankar.

During the interrogation, he answered all the questions posed by the central agency. However, he refused to reveal what he had been asked.

"I answered what they (CBI officers) wanted from me. I don't want to reveal the subject of questioning", Rajesh Kumar told media after coming out of the CBI office.

Sources said, Seashore broker Subhankar's diary contained the name of Rajesh Kumar along with a woman IAS officer and some senior journalists.

Reacting to CBI summon to a IPS officer, former DGP Gopal Nanda said " CBI can question anyone which doesn't mean that the concerned person is accused. As he was investigating the same case earlier, the central probe agency may call him for some information. It will not lead to any loss of police credibility.”

Notably, Kumar played a key role in arresting seashore CMD Prashant Dash from Mumbai last year. Even if he used to convene press meet many times to inform about the seized properties of Seashore group. He had informed the media about silver coins worth Rs 44 laks seized from Seashore locker.
