Seashore chief nabbed from Mumbai
Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) on Wednesday arrested Seashore Group chief Prasant Das from Mumbai in connection with a case of allegedly duping small investors crores of rupees.
While informing the media about the arrest Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma said Das would be produced in a local court of Mumbai tomorrow.
The CB sleuths had been camping in Mumbai for the past seven days to nab Das, who had been absconding, added Sharma.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of CB had in July last year booked Das and five other directors of the company for allegedly siphoning off public money to the tune of nearly Rs 500 crore.
Notably, the CB had moved the apex court seeking cancellation of Das' bail, granted by the Orissa high court on October 17, 2012. Prior to granting him bail, the high court had provided interim protection to Das by restraining the CB from arresting him until further orders.
