Nabarangpur: Vigilance sleuths today unearthed property worth Rs 5.5 crore belonging to a school teacher of Mundagada project upper primary school in Kosagumuda block of Nabarangpur district.

Anti-corruption officials conducted simultaneous searches and unearthed movable and immovable assets of Subrat Kumar Choudhury, who works as an assistant teacher at the upper primary school.

Acting upon allegations of acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, Vigilance sleuths seized property of the school teacher including his four-storied building at Patel Sahi, 23 different land plots in the district, one double-storied building at Nuabanda sahi, two double-storied buildings at Rangamatiguda. Vigilance officials have also seized his double storied building at R K colony, a car and other valuables.

According to sources, the teacher had been working in the school since 2005 and took voluntary retirement from service in June, 2019. An investigation is also currently underway to ascertain his income from a computer institute and a service provider agency.
