School teacher found hanging; police recover suicide note from his room

Gajapati: A school teacher was found by his wife, hanging in a room of his house at Badasindhaba village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district on Friday. The deceased, identified as Manoj Kumar Nayak, was working as a teacher at a primary school in Berhampur.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. A suicide note was also recovered by the cops from the room, sources said.

On the other hand, Nayak’s wife, Gayatri informed that he was under mental duress for the past few days which might have forced him to take the extreme step. "He was alleged of misbehaving with a girl in the bus some days back while he was going to school. After the incident, some people started criticising him in public which stressed him mentally," said Gayatri.

Mohana police station sub-inspector (SI), Alok Jagadala informed, "Prima facie investigation reveals that Nayak committed suicide by hanging himself. We have also recovered a suicide note from the room and will examine it. The exact reason behind Nayak's death can be established only after interrogation of the family members."
