Cuttack: The principal of a public school was arrested on Tuesday on charges of murdering his fellow lady teacher and disposing the body in a crematorium in Cuttack.

The accused, Parersh Mohapatra, had a good relationship with the woman teacher of his school. Later, differences cropped up between the two over some issues. The lady teacher went missing mysteriously since July 29 following which the brother of the victim lodged a complaint at Markat Nagar police station. He alleged in his complaint that Paresh had murdered his sister and cremated her at Kaliaboda crematorium.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Paresh and detained three of his friends who helped him in cremation. A scientific team of police reached the funeral ground at Kaliaboda for investigation.

"Since 2010 the lady teacher had been in touch with accused Mohapatra, the Prinicpal of St Xaviers' School Cuttack. Investigation further revealed on July 29 the accused killed her by strangulating with a duptta and shifted the dead body to a cremation ground in an ambulance. There might be some dispute between them. The exact reason for the murder can be ascertained only after completion of the investigation," Twin-city police commissioner RP Sharma said.

On the other hand, reaction of the accused and his counsel has not yet been received as per the latest report.
