School Headmaster Held For Harassing Lady Teacher In Kandhamal

Phulbani: The headmaster of a high school in Kandhamal district was arrested on Thursday for allegedly harassing a female assistant teacher mentally and physically.

The accused has been identified as Chandrasekhar Maharana, headmaster of Kudutuli High School in K. Nuagaon.

According to sources, a lady teacher of the same school had lodged a complaint against the headmaster and two other teachers—Sadashiv Behera and Sushant Baliarsingh—on August 26.

Following the complaint, the members of Kui community had gheraoed K. Nuagaon Police Station on September 11 alleging inaction of police against the accused. After protests, police swung into action and arrested the accused headmaster. He was later forwarded to court. However, the other two accused teachers are still absconding, informed sources.
