Bhubaneswar: IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty today assumed charge as the Police Commissioner of the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

He was appointed the new Police Commissioner of the Commissionerate Police on July 28.

"My efforts will be to provide quality service to people and win their trust. In view of this, we will strengthen police system," said the new Police Commisisoner after taking charge of the office.

Mohanty, who is an IPS officer of 1988 batch, had won the Police medal in 2004 and the President’s medal in 2012 for his distinguished service.

He had also worked as SP of Koraput, Rourkela, Cuttack and Balasore districts. Besides, Mohanty had served in the position of Additional SP of Puri.

Following an IPS reshuffle, Mohanty's predecessor YB Khurania was appointed ADG (Provisioning).
