Sarpanch aspirant among 3 killed in mishap

Koraput: Three persons, including a Sarpanch candidate in the just concluded panchayat polls in Odisha, were killed in a road accident in Koraput district today. The mishap occurred when the motorcycle on which they were travelling fell from a bridge on a hilly road in Sunabeda area, about 15 km from here, police said.

While two of the deceased were identified as Dora Jani and Daitari Nayak, identification of the third is yet to be ascertained, they said. It was not clear immediately whether the rider lost control over the two-wheeler or the bike fell from a height after being hit by some vehicle from behind, Inspector In-Charge of Sunabeda police station S N Satapathy said. Sources said Dora Jani had contested for the post of Sarpanch at Mujanka under Dasmantpur block in the three-tier panchayat polls that concluded on Sunday.
