Sans ambulance, patient carried for 4 km by family members in Odisha
Rayagada: In yet another incident of poor health care services in Odisha, a woman patient was carried by family members and then ferried across river on a makeshift raft today after ambulance failed to turn up. The incident was reported from Pakeru village in Kalyansinghpur block of Rayagada district.
According to sources, the woman patient identified as Hikaka Sitara was reportedly sick for a long time. As her condition suddenly worsened today morning, her relatives called for 108 ambulance service.
However, after the ambulance failed to turn up, the relatives of the patient carried her for nearly 4 kilometers and thereafter ferried across Kalyani River on a makeshift raft, sources said.
After crossing the river, she was taken on an autorickshaw and admitted into Kalyansinghpur community health centre, sources added.
