Sand artist Sudarshan wins Gold in Russia
Bhubaneswar: Odia sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik won a Gold medal at the just-concluded 12th International Sand Art Competition 2013 in St.Petersburg, Russia.
Pattnaik's 7ft high sand sculpture of Ganesh sitting on Kailash Mountain with Lord Siva & Parvati won the first prize in the competition whose theme was "International Fairy Tales".
He was the only sand artist from India to participate in the contest held July 10-18. Other participants included artists from USA, Canada, Holland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Austria and Russia.
The Odia sand artist has participated in more than 54 international sand sculpture championships across the globe and has won many accolades. Earlier, this year, he had won Danish grand prize at Copenhagen and Moscow choice prize.
