Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) is the best performing plant of the Maharatna Company, SAIL, and the same status needs to be maintained through technological upgradation, said RSP`s CEO G S Prasad.

Referring to the current market scenario, Prasad stressed the need for becoming cost competitive, improving techno-economics and increasing volume. On modernisation and expansion activities in RSP, he said the works must be completed as per schedule and the upcoming units should be operated and maintained in an efficient and effective manner. The cost of capitalisation should be minimised, Prasad said adding he was confident that the RSP had the potential to achieve it.

The RSP CEO was addressing a mass contact exercise of the steel unit. Prasad also asked the employees to share their ideas and opinions freely and frankly in the mass contact exercise and said "problems or issues which are discussed here are neither mine nor yours, but ours". A number of issues relating to production, productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, safety and housekeeping were discussed.
