Puri: A sum of Rs 16 crore will be spent for development of health amenities in Puri district, official sources said here today. A decision to this effect was taken by the district health committee chaired by collector Fakir Charan Satapathy in which state`s Panchayati Raj Minister Maheswar Mohanty was present.

Besides other provisions, the scheme envisaged development of infrastructure in hospitals, opening of blood banks at four public health centres at Nimapara, Charichaka, Sakhigopal and Gop. Steps would also be taken for filling up of 53 vacant posts of specialists and doctors in the district on contract basis.
