Mishra had claimed that if couples in a romantic relationship visit Srimandir for 'darshan' before marriage, their relationship would never succeed, and they would never be able to get married. He attributed this to what he described as a “curse” of Goddess Radharani on the temple.

According to his statement, when Goddess Radharani once came to the Srimandir to see Lord Krishna in the form of Jagannath, the servitors allegedly stopped her, saying that the consort of the Lord was not allowed inside the temple. Hearing this, Radharani was angered and cursed the temple.

These remarks have sparked widespread disapproval and strong reactions across Puri.

"Shubhankar Mishra has made some misleading statements. A committee will verify the authenticity of his claims. Appropriate action will be taken based on the committee's report.
