Road Cave-In On Palasuni Overbridge Sparks Public Ire

Bhubaneswar: Tension erupted near Hi-Tech Chhak here last night after a portion of the Palasuni overbridge caved in leading to disruption in vehicular communication. Alleging shoddy road construction as the reason behind the caving in of the road, the locals have demanded a high level probe into the incident.

According to sources, motorists had a narrow escape after a portion of the overbridge road near Palasuni suddenly caved in following heavy rainfall. The incident led to formation of a deep crater on the spot. Irate over the incident, hundreds of locals staged a protest near the spot and demanded an investigation into the incident.

After receiving information, officials of NHAI and traffic police reached the spot. The area near the collapsed road was cordoned off leading to disruption in vehicular movement.

A team of ODRAF was later roped in to repair the road on a war footing. The spot has been barricaded to prevent any damage to life and property.

A special light and signage have been installed at the spot to help motorists in movement.

“We demand that the traffic movement must be stopped to avoid any accident. Also a probe must be conducted to find out the reasons behind the depression,” said a local.
