Rift crops up between BJD factions in Aska

Berhampur: A political rift has cropped up between two factions of BJD unit of Aska in Ganjam district after one of the groups organised a meeting against Aska MLA Debaraj Mohanty at Kendupadar block yesterday.

According to sources, the meeting was attended by Aska MP Ladu Kishore Swain, president and past-presidents of the block, sarpanchs and samiti members. The group accused Mohanty of ignoring party workers and unable to execute party work properly.

BJD MP Swain said that he will urge the party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to not issue party ticket to Debaraj in the upcoming elections.

“His (Debaraj) leadership is not for the general mass or for the mother land, it is for the contractors. We strictly oppose his leadership and will inform the party high command for change of leadership,” said Swain.

On the other hand, Aska MLA refuted all allegations against him. “Others are trying to remove me in their dreams. In reality, they cannot do that as only CM Naveen Patnaik or the general mass has the power to do so.”
