Balasore: Vigilance sleuths today arrested a revenue inspector in Kedarpur panchayat of the district for allegedly taking a bribe amount of Rs 4,200. The anti-graft officials also arrested two more persons in connection with the case.

As per the allegations, the accused identified as RI Kamini Panigrahy had demanded a bribe of Rs 3000 from one Purnachandra Majhi for land mutation purpose. She had also reportedly demanded Rs 1200 from Majhi for preparation of sketch maps.

However, Majhi reported the matter to the vigilance in Balasore and a trap was laid to arrest Kamini.

As per the directions, Majhi with the requisite amount went to the office but the RI didn't accept the money directly, rather an unofficial temporary employee Banamali Dixit was directed to receive the money.

Later, the vigilance officials caught them red handed and recovered the money.

The accused have been arrested and forwarded to court and further investigation into the incident is on, said a senior police official.
