Revenue Inspector arrested for accepting bribe

Kendrapara: The vigilance wing of the state police today arrested a Revenue Inspector (RI) in Kendrapara district, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 3,000 from a complainant, official sources said.

The accused RI Debendra Sahu had demanded bribe from complainant Madhav Behera for approving his application to convert agriculture land to homestead land.

The complainant informed the vigilance sleuths and a trap was laid. The RI was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe, Vigilance department sources said.

Sahu was booked under various provisions of prevention of corruption act, said vigilance Cuttack Division officials.
