Koraput: Police today recovered the bodies of an ex-policeman and his wife from their house at Jaynagar Chhak in Jeypore city of Koraput district. The deceased cop has been identified as Sheikh Rahman, who happens to be a retired Inspector In-Charge (IIC). Soon after the incident, police detained their son while an interrogation is underway to find more details about the double murder, sources said.

As per initial sources, the elderly couple’s son reportedly knocked at the door of their house this morning after finding it locked from inside. However, finding no response from his parents, he broke open the door just to find them dead. He immediately informed police about the incident who rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

The couple's son further said robbery could be the intention behind the killing. "Our house was robbed and my parents have been killed. I knocked at the door this morning but nobody opened it. Later, I found them dead," he said.

Meanwhile, police have recovered a blood-stained weapon from the site of crime while it is being suspected that the particular weapon was used to kill the couple, sources added. Police also detained their son for an enquiry.

Koraput ASP, Utkal Ranjan Das, said "The deceased couple were found dead and we have registered a case in connection with the incident. Two teams have been formed to investigate the case. The suspects are currently unknown, however, further investigation is on and we are interrogating their son."
