Residential school shame: Mahila Congress stages protest in front of Kandhamal Collectorate
Phulbani: Amid rising public outrage after a minor schoolgirl delivered a baby at a residential school in Daringibadi area of Kandhamal district, the district Mahila Congress today staged a protest in front of the district Collector’s office demanding dismissal of ministers Ramesh Majhi, Prafulla Samal and strict action against concerned government officials.
The protest was organized under the leadership of Mahila Congress President Janaki Pradhan and attended by senior women leaders including secretary of the wing Sandhyarani Das.
The leaders and workers of the women wing also demanded the transfer of district Collector Brunda D.
“We staged a demonstration to demand the dismissal of ministers Ramesh Majhi and Prafulla Samal,” Sandhyarani Das said.
On the other hand, the district Collector said that all schools have been tagged with the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and mobile health teams to monitor the schools.
“As part of follow-up action, we have suspended the concerned officials involved in monitoring and supervision at the school. The health, mobile health and RBSK teams have been tagged with the schools,” Collector Brunda D informed.
