Cuttack: Absence of doctors at the Regional Spinal Injury Centre in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has led to resentment among patients and their relatives.

While staging a demonstration outside the campus gate today, the relatives of the patients have alleged that not a single doctor has come to the ward in last 15 days following which they have decided to shift the patients to other hospital.

Some relatives of the patients alleged that the treatment is being done by nurses and attendants.

"Treatment has completely stopped, no doctor has come for the check up. We are giving same medicines to the patients for more than two weeks," said Chandini Mohanty, relative of a patient.

"We are planning to shift him to another hospital, we don't have trust on this government hospital," rued another patient's relative Samant Pasayat.

As per reports, after the retirement of two Orthopaedic surgeons from the hospital, two doctors were appointed on contractual basis. But the contractual doctors have resigned from their post over delay in salary.

Adding to the woes, the Director of the hospital Dr. Prakash Mohapatra is also not present in the hospital as he has been given the additional responsibility at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research in Sambalpur.

"Doctors are not coming for visit, it's been 17 days. I am admitted here and there is no improvement in my health condition," alleged a patient Brajasundar.

"I am lying on the bed and continuing the same medicine that was prescribed earlier, no doctor has come for further treatment," said another patient Prashant Pasayat.

Meanwhile, no comments could be obtained from the hospital authorities.
